Objective:

New pipework to improve reliability of heating at a 1923 built school.

Preamble

  • Detailed health and safety plan with double closures, barriers, and signage in conjunction with a licensed asbestos contractor to local authority.
  • Zoning of works and timelines as some staff working during summer break.
  • Asbestos awareness and manual handling training of operatives
  • Supervision by Council appointed Clerk of works
  • Strip out and reinstatement works
  • Lifting of concrete slabs using props, lifting tackle and manual handling.
  • Removal of existing asbestos insulated pipework and bracketry under controlled condition.
  • Refurbishment of entire duct with sealing paint by Licenced Asbestos Company.

Supply and Install

  • 300 meters of heating flow and return carbon steel pipework re-connecting to boiler room.
  • New pipe work supports (Big Foot) avoiding drilling into floor and walls as per instructions by Council Asbestos Officer.
  • Insulation of pipework, Valve Tags and Labels
  • Pressure test, Filling and flushing and dosing with inhibitor.
  • Reinstatement of slabs and making good for new flooring by others

Replacement of corridor cast iron radiators with LST steel panel radiators
